Biography

Dr Anastasia Mihailidou is a clinical scientist and runs a diagnostic service for 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). She also is Head of the Cardiovascular & Hormonal Research Laboratory, Kolling Institute, and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University.

Dr Mihailidou contributed to revising the Australian Guidelines for ABPM and has developed an online training module for standardising the clinical measurement of blood pressure. The elearning module is included in curriculum of the University of Sydney Nursing School and accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners. She is on the international advisory board of STRIDE_BP to standardise blood pressure measurement and the national committee of the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia. Her research focuses on sex differences in heart disease and regulation of steroid hormone receptors in the heart. She is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Dr Mihailidou is Commissioner of The Lancet's Commission on Cardiovascular Disease in Women.
